Anantnag observes World Water Day.

ANANTNAG, MARCH 22: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Younis Malik was the chief guest at a function organized here at Government Degree College (Boys), Khanabal to observe World Water Day.
The aim of organizing the function was to discuss issues, challenges and remedial measures regarding preservation, conservation and management of water and water bodies.
Addressing the gathering, the DDC said that the district Anantnag is bestowed with abundant water resources in the form of springs, glaciers, and rivers and need of the hour is to manage and restore these water resources. He said that preservation of water bodies is social responsibility of everyone.
The DDC impressed upon the PHE Department to work vigorously to ensure the cleanliness of water resources as it is their mandate to provide safe and potable drinking water to the people.
He called upon the all participants to bring about positive behavioral changes regarding the sustainable use of water. He said that students can serve as ambassadors of change in this regard.
On the occasion, different speakers including Principal GDC Khanabal, ADDC, SE Hydraulics, Deputy CMO, and others spoke on different aspects like methodologies of water management and conservation, sewage treatment, liquid waste management, the impact of polythene on water resources, sustainability of water resources, etc.
The function was attended by Principal GDC Khanabal, ADDC, SE Hydraulics, Chief Education Officer, Deputy CMO, Exens, AEEs and other staff of PHE, I&FC and Hydraulics, besides ASHAs and students of College and other schools.
